Anxiety is an emotional state appeared in the situations of uncertain danger. Unlike fear which appears in case of a real threat, anxiety appears when there is no real danger and it may not happen at all.

A feeling of anxiety is an expectation of failure. During anxiety, the physiological symptoms appear: rapid heartbeat, sweating, rapid breathing, increase of the arterial pressure, and poor sensitivity threshold.

An example of the increased anxiety is as follows: you saw a dog from afar, and remembered that you were bitten by a dog some time ago. You had pain, stress, and other feelings. So you might have anxiety because such situation may happen again. This feeling can be groundless because a dog can be on a leash and not dangerous. But the human consciousness reproduces a situation and shows a game plan of the possible situation.

There is an opinion in the medicine that anxiety is a useful state. A human can take measures to solve a problem/task which causes anxiety due to the emotional concern.

But if you have anxiety without any cause and always expect something bad, the anxiety becomes a serious problem which should be treated. In case of the permanent fear, and anxiety, the human brain is not given reasons for actions to solve tasks/problems, and it is just paralyzed.

The anxiety may turn into the chronic anxious disorders which can cause a severe mental disorder as well as somatic diseases, if there is no adequate treatment.

The increased anxiety sometimes leads to the absurd fears, phobia, and other mental disorders. Some specialists state that if the human is comfortable in the atmosphere of the permanent anxiety and it does not bother his/her behavior and quality of life, the anxiety should not be treated.

But most doctors and scientists tend to the opposite opinion. They consider that the anxiety causes a pathologic change of the human psyche and perception of the world. The human can consider negative experience of other people as a real life and emphasize on it. As a result, there will be a human in the society who has inhibited consciousness and may cause panic in the society.

Anxiety is not a mental disorder. This is an emotional state as happiness, sadness, calm, and others. A professional psychotherapist should make a decision about the necessity of the anxiety treatment.

A consultation of the psychotherapist can be enough to find out a cause of the anxiety and how dangerous it is for your mental state. If you are exposed to the attacks of the anxiety, several treatment sessions will be enough. You should understand that uncertainty accompanies a human within entire life, and anxiety is a normal state when a person has to solve any problem/task.

If the psychotherapist realizes that you have constant anxiety and there are no objective causes, a medical treatment of the anxiety can be prescribed.

The common sedative products in combination with psychotherapy will help to relax. You will understand where the adequate cause of the anxiety is, and when the increased anxiety has no grounds.

The application of the anti-anxiety products with a strong sedative action is pointless. It is needed only during the chronic generalized anxious disorder. In any case, anxiety is not always a bad thing but if the anxiety bothers you, a help of the psychotherapist will be useful.
