Soma is a muscle relaxant which has an intense analgesic action. It contains the active ingredient Carisoprodol.

The muscle relaxants are used to arrest an acute pain and a relaxation of the muscle fibers in those cases when there are contraindications for the use of non-steroid anti-inflammatory products. Soma has a strong myorelaxing and pain-relieving action and helps to easier overcome trauma or surgeries.

Soma gives a strong sedative and a light anticonvulsive action. If the common anti-convulsive products are ineffective, this medicine can be used. The therapeutic effect occurs within 30 minutes after the use of the tablet and lasts for a short time, about 5-6 hours. It should be taken into account during buying this medicine. You will need several packs.

Directions for the use

Soma is prescribed for short medical therapies for the symptomatic treatment of the diseases of the locomotor system, convulsive attacks, and also a recovery after the muscle affections/traumas.

It can be used in combination with non-steroid anti-inflammatory drugs to enhance a pin-relieving action and increase a sedative effect.

How to take Soma?

Soma is not indicated for a prolonged usage. There is medical data that the prolonged use of the medicine can cause a psychological addiction and resistance to the action of Carisoprodol. To inhibit pain sensations and relaxation of the muscle tissue, Soma is used in the dose of 350 mg 4 times per day.

If the disease symptoms are reduced, the daily dose is reduced and one tablet of Soma 350 mg is taken 2 times per day. The maximal length of taking Soma 350 mg is 8 weeks.

Side effects

The use of Soma in standard dose of 350 mg will hardly cause severe side effects. Patients often feel a severe sleepiness and muscle weakness including reduced motion activity. As Soma even in low doses causes a severe sleepiness, it is necessary to refuse from driving and performing potentially dangerous activities.

If the dose is selected incorrectly, or you take more than 4 tablets of Soma 350 mg per day, severe side effects can happen: cardiovascular failure, respiratory distress, severe headache, dizziness, tachycardia, vomiting, and allergic reaction. If severe side effects appeared, stop using Soma and seek for a medical aid.
