Antabuse is a brand name of Disulfiram which is used for the treatment of the alcohol abuse. The mechanism of the action consists in the increase of the sensitivity of the body to alcohol and a formation of the rejection of ethanol.
In the body, ethyl alcohol goes through several stages of metabolism. If a process of metabolism of ethanol is broken on one of the stages, the side effects can be caused.
Antabuse blocks certain enzyme produced by liver which favors the final breaking of alcohol in the body. Inhibiting the production of this enzyme in the liver, it stops the process of breaking ethyl alcohol into carbon dioxide and water on the stage of the acetic aldehyde that is a histic poison. The increased amount of acetic aldehyde causes a severe intoxicant in the human body.
The intoxication causes unpleasant, painful sensations: difficult breathing, head noises, fear, shivers, nausea, dizziness, tachycardia, pain in the chest, muscle weakness, anxiety, and others.
The more often these symptoms appear, the faster a fear before consuming alcohol appears. Netagive emotions inhibit the positive effects which have been caused by the beverage drinks before, and the human has a rejection of ethanol.
Using Antabuse, it is possible to effectively treat alcohol abuse regardless of how long a patient abuse alcohol.
